KERATOMETER MEASURING TECHNIQUE Aligning the Instrument Next look through the eyepiece and sweep the instrument side to side to find the reflection of the mires from the cornea and to horizontally align the instrument. The proper alignment is when the crosshair is in the center of the lower-right (center) circle. To achieve the proper vertical alignment, use the controls described on the previous screen. When this alignment is achieved, lock the instrument so it will not move up or down or from side to side (lock knob on left side). The movie shows aligning the instrument to take a measurement as previously described as well as showing how to rotate it for axis.
